Chapter 65-Delphine of Very Delphine

Truly hope you enjoy and are inspired by this week’s episode with Delphine.

In this chapter, Delphine says her her excitement for travel started through literature and the stories from her father’s travels. At the age of 13, her family relocated from Cameroon to a predominately white, mid-western town in America. She shares how she got through culture shock, and how that experience shaped how she saw herself. Delphine and I discuss how success is viewed culturally, and Black people giving themselves permission to pursue creative paths. She talks about her project #LoveLettersToAfrica and how her love of the continent has inspired her to encourage Black people in the diaspora to explore Africa more, particularly as some may want to connect with our ancestral home. Delphine believes in supporting local, saying that while she loves luxury, she’s conscious of trying to also support local people wherever she travels.

Delphine is working on a project to showcase every country in Africa. You can check it out on her Instagram. And stay tuned there for her upcoming endeavors.

Delphine has been grooving to two songs centering Blackness. You can find them on the Guest Favorites from the Black Women Travel Podcast playlist on Spotify
