Chapter 55-Karen, Head Chef of Our Kitchen Classroom

Truly hope you enjoy and are inspired by this week’s episode with Karen.

In this chapter, Karen tells about the traumatic event at the age of six that had a big impact on her life, and how her faith helped her through it. She also shares loads of her warmth and admiration for her family, and absolutely fawns over her husband. Karen gets into the winding tale of moving to Japan for a year, which turned into living there for ten years, and how she and her family just kept the traveling magic going, exploring different countries ever since. She talks about her love of gospel music and all things kitchen, which have very much been apart of her teaching journey that has so far lasted over 25 years. She discusses her process of embracing her body, liberating herself, and wanting to liberate others from diet culture. Karen says “We cannot change the world when we’re starving,” and describes what intuitive eating means to her.

Karen would love to share her food passion with you through her Facebook community, and through her website where you can find resources, and where Karen will feed your mind and nourish your soul.

Karen chose three words for 2020, peace, love, and joy. The song she references with these three words can be found on the Guest Favorites from the Black Women Travel Podcast playlist on Spotify.
