Chapter 38-Elvy of Elvy’s Blog

Truly hope you enjoy and are inspired by this week’s episode with Elvy.

In this chapter, Elvy talks about coping emotionally with the progression of muscular dystrophy, including starting to talk about it with those close to her. She tells us how supportive her friends and family have been. She shares just how much research she has to do to when preparing to travel, and how on a last minute, and her first solo trip, things got interesting. She gives us her perspective on how the world treats those differently abled, and how her disability is a great people and friend filter. Elvy discusses how not to feed into the fears of others, and tells us about her challenges being a Black woman in the work place.

You can connect with Elvy on Twitter, or on her website Elvy’s Blog. She’s open to receiving constructive advice on her new blog if you’d like to reach out.

A poem that has been an inspiration to Elvy is Maya Angelou’s “Phenomenal Woman.”
